Role and Responsibilities:
As an entry-level Waste Management Refuse Helper, you will support daily residential and commercial waste collection operations by assisting collection truck drivers along assigned routes.
- Collect and dispose of residential and commercial refuse and recyclables along daily route paths
- Ride on the rear step or passenger cab of collection trucks to support field pickup operations
- Lift, load, and empty waste bins and heavy bags into collection truck hoppers safely
- Guide drivers during vehicle backing maneuvers and assist with route navigation
- Operate hydraulic packer controls when properly trained and authorized
- Maintain clean work areas and ensure customer properties are left clear of spilled debris
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required protective equipment at all times
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ability to perform physically demanding manual labor, including repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions across all seasons
