Role and Responsibilities:
As an entry-level Waste Management Recycling Sorter, you perform manual material separation inside our indoor recovery facilities to help divert recyclable materials from landfills.
- Inspect incoming single-stream recyclable materials along high-speed conveyor sorting belts
- Manually separate cardboard, paper, plastics, aluminum cans, and glass into collection chutes
- Identify and remove hazardous, non-recyclable items and contaminants from sorting lines
- Assist with clearing minor conveyor belt jams and maintaining clean sorting station work bays
- Follow facility sanitation guidelines and clean up loose processing debris during shift breaks
- Adhere strictly to plant safety rules, including wearing gloves, safety glasses, and high-vis gear
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ability to stand for extended periods along moving conveyor belts
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to lift up to 30 lbs
- Comfort working in an industrial indoor recycling plant environment
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and willingness to follow safety protocols
